 "Trina wears her wampum beads
She fills her drawing book with line
Sewing lace on widows' weeds
And filigree on leaf and vine
Vine and leaf are filigree
And her coat's a secondhand one
Trimmed with antique luxury
She is a lady of the canyon

Annie sits you down to eat
She always makes you welcome in
Cats and babies 'round her feet
And all are fat and none are thin
None are thin and all are fat
She may bake some brownies today

Saying you are welcome back
She is another canyon lady

Estrella circus girl
Comes wrapped in songs and gypsy shawls
Songs like tiny hammers hurled
At beveled mirrors in empty halls
Empty halls and beveled mirrors
Sailing seas and climbing banyans
Come out for a visit here
To be a lady of the canyon

Trina takes her paints and her threads
And she weaves a pattern all her own
Annie bakes her cakes and her breads
And she gathers flowers for her home
For her home she gathers flowers
And Estrella dear companion
Colors up the sunshine hours
Pouring music down the canyon
Coloring the sunshine hours
They are the ladies of the canyon"

COACHELLA STYLE DIARY 2014

Dienstag, 22. April 2014

Coachella is over. And even if I wasn´t there and couldn´t dance through the
sand storm with all those lucky desert children I totally feel the vibes when I
look at the style pics they took this year. Dusty boots, flower crowns, crop tops,
drenched in jewelry... Oh yes! I really think this years beauties totally rocked it!
So here are my fave styles from the last two weekends for you.
What do you think?

THE LEGEND OF ZITKALA-SA

"Lakota Creation Myth - The Legend of Zitkala-Sa"
photography Lonnie Webb
styling Dara Schafer
makeup Anna Branson

Love this little editorial from the latest Lone Wolf issue.
(including some amazing Heyoka Leather and Vanessa Mooney goodies)

Beautiful Simha embodies Zitkala-Sa, (which means "Red Bird" also known as Gertrude
Simmons Bonnin) who was a Sioux writer, editor, musician, teacher and political activist.
She wrote several works chronicling her struggles in her youth as she was pulled back and
forth between the influences of dominant American culture and her own Native American
heritage, as well as books in English that brought traditional Native American stories to a
widespread white readership for one of the first times. With William F. Hanson, Bonnin
co-composed the first American Indian opera, The Sun Dance, which premiered in 1913.
She founded the National Council of American Indians in 1926 to lobby for the rights of
Native Americans to American citizenship, and served as its president until her death in
 1938.

“A wee child toddling in a wonder world, I prefer to their dogma my
excursions into the natural gardens where the voice of the Great Spirit
is heard in the twittering of birds, the rippling of mighty waters, and the
sweet breathing of flowers. If this is Paganism, then at present, at least,
I am a Pagan.”  - Zitkala-Sa

SS14 campaign
photography Ward Robinson
hair Derek-Peter

Oh my god!!! How beautiful is that? I was waiting for this campaign ever since I saw the
first sneak peek on Jacquie Aiche´s Instagram months ago. JA´s campaigns are always
amazing, but this is my favourite so far. Even my favourite campaign/lookbook in this
year till now. Lauren and Grace looking ethereal. Oh I could watch these pics and video
 over and over again...
